To address ASSURE’s objectives, we will combine idealised wind tunnel (WT) experiments and large eddy simulations (LES) numerical modelling with real world observations (RWO); and exploit them to derive theoretical understanding as a basis for developing parametrisations for larger-scale models. This work is informed by current operational meso-scale models (MM), motivated by their needs and current limitations. Undertaken in six work packages (see above figure), it is concerned with Street (S, 100 m) to Neighbourhood (N, 1 km) to City (C, 10 km) to Region (R, 100 km) scales.
